SPOTSYLVANIA YMCA LIFEGUARDS

MEET THE

TEAM

   Sarah Ward

   Aquatics Director

I am originally from Manchester England and moved to Fredericksburg

in 2005. I attended York St. John College in England where I studied

Sports Studies and Physical Education. Before moving to America I

traveled to many countries including Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

I love with working with children, I have been teaching swimming

lessons for over 5 years. I am a qualified swim in two countries under

   three governing bodies.

   Tina Estep

   Lifeguard

   Swim Instructor

I have been a lifeguard and a swim instructor at the YMCA for about 3 years now.

I enjoy the time that I have spent here at the YMCA working with different people

and helping out when I am needed.  I am currently attending Germanna Community

College to finish up my Associates in General Studies and I am planning to transfer

to UVA to major in Archaeology and History.

   Ryan Rodriquez

   Lifeguard

   Junior at Courtland High School

I became a lifeguard with the intent of making a difference in

my community. In addition to getting a paycheck, it’s good to

go home knowing that you helped someone that day.

   Celsie Hahn

   Lifeguard

   Junior at Spotsylvania High School

When I was three, I would go everyday to the pool.

I love the water and being at the pool. My mom always said that

I would become a lifeguard and she offered to pay for my training.

I do love my job and can’t wait to expand my life to become a RN.

   Les Aker

   Lifeguard

   Junior at Massaponax High School

I wanted to be a lifeguard because I used to spend lots of time at the pool

and being a lifeguard seemed cool. As I got older, I wanted to earn some money

while doing something fun. Being a lifeguard has been a nice way to make

money while doing something I really enjoy.

    Erin Johnson

    Lifeguard

    Currently attending Germanna Community College

I became a lifeguard because I wanted a job that was important

and one thatI could excel in. I go to Germanna now and plan on

transferring to VCU to major in journalism. I’ve written for the

Free Lance Star for almost two years, and I am confident that

I’ve found something I could make a career out of and be happy with.

   Tara Willging

   Lifeguard

   Junior at Courtland High School

I have been swimming for eleven years and I enjoy the water.

I wanted to be a lifeguard because I spend a lot of time in the water

and wanted to help people enjoy it to.

   Matt Harrison

   Lifeguard

I enjoy being sporadic. I have been with the YMCA for more than 4 years.

I spent the last two years in California on a mission trip. I returned to the YMCA

to have fun and be in good company. I love my job.
